About Us

Clanbrooke Racing commenced operations in 1997 with the Albury-based Rustic Amber mare, `Little Red Jug’. One subsequent foal of the mare, aptly named `Little Brown Jug’, is still a member of our broodmare stable and the dam of current stable horse `Apparel Prince.’ It is from such beginnings that Clanbrooke, managed on a day to day basis by Dean Humphries, now manage around 35 horses at any given time.

Dean is a CPA with an accounting background and also a registered Syndicator, a requirement of lead regulator, ASIC. Support staff at Clanbrooke include General Manager Brooke, with Judy and Peter in administration. Over the years we have formed relationships with other Support professionals. These include our trusted Bloodstock agent Kevin Dagg of K.Dagg Bloodstock, as well as our very own `horse whisperer’ and preferred horse breaker, Brendan Antone.

In keeping with our history, Clanbrooke’s Mission remains to facilitate racehorse ownership across all sectors of the community. Unlike Europe where ownership is a pastime reserved only for the wealthy, in Australia we encourage broader participation and, to this end, Syndication serves to facilitates this. Clanbrooke endeavours to deal in the middle region of the Partnership market and have been relatively successful, especially in being able to offer horses in both Metropolitan and rural settings.

To enable us to realize our goal, we have also chosen to offer shares in a variety of geographical locations across Australia and, more recently, Internationally as well. We have trainers in S.A., W.A., Singapore as well as our Victorian base, and hope to expand to the English market in the near future.

As far as racehorse performance goes, the ultimate for any owner is G1 glory. Like any business, it takes time, but we were very proud to have enjoyed our first G1 winner in Arapaho Miss in the 2007 Crown Oaks. Since then we have made a concerted effort to improve the overall quality of our stock and our results over the 3 subsequent seasons are testament to this plan.

Arapaho’s win also vindicated our faith in our approach to purchasing with our chosen [middle] market in mind. A $22K Yearling, Arapaho’s $700K+ prizemoney and sale price in excess of $500K is testament to this. For it is not merely a case of attending Sales. A successful Partnership requires a great deal of planning, thorough pedigree analysis and the painstaking observation of Yearlings. This is where our professional partnerships are invaluable.

We believe we have considerable expertise at our fingertips and our results continue to confirm our selections. We have always wanted Clanbrooke Racing to have a `family’ feel and encourage all our owners to be interested in the other horses racing in the blue and gold. Our social events have proven successful at facilitating new friendship groups which, ultimately, enhance the racing experience.

It is a great industry – one that can only get better with your participation as an owner.

Happy Owners
