REWARD FOR EFFORT is the epitome of elite juvenile speed reproducing elite juvenile speed at stud. Debuting with a decisive win at 2 in the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview (1000m), he carried the hype to a brilliant victory in the G1 Blue Diamond S. (1200M). In doing so, he followed in the footsteps of luminaries and Champion Sires Zeditave, Redoute’s Choice, Bel Esprit and emerging force Sepoy. Highlighting his soundness and durability, he then went on to forge undefeated 3YO and 4YO seasons at WFA, travelling to Sydney to take the G3 Concorde Stakes (1100m).

A son of Champion Australian Sire and Champion Australian 2YO Sire EXCEED AND EXCEL, REWARD FOR EFFORT hails from one of the most precocious male lines in the world today. In fact, Exceed and Excel captured that title as Worldwide Leading Sire of 2YO Stakeswinners 2008-2013. Sire of 10 individual G1 winners including Excelebration (3x G1 winners in France and the UK), Guelph (4x G1 winner), Helmet (Triple G1 winner and emerging sire), Flamberge (3x G1 winner) and yet another Blue Diamond Stakes winner in Earthquake, Exceed and Excel is also sire of ATC Group One Golden Slipper winner OVERREACH, herself a ¾ sister to REWARD FOR EFFORT.

Since capturing the Champion Victorian First & Second Sire titles, the commercial appeal of REWARD FOR EFFORT has continued to rise, culminating in a lofty book of 172 pedigreed mares being covered by him in 2016. He currently boasts 85 individual winners of 159 races for prizemoney in excess of $5.3 million. This includes stakes winners GOLD SYMPHONY, TAKE PRIDE, BRUGAL REWARD, DALRADIAN and DESERT LASHES.

This filly is the first foal of winning mare KOBE QUEEN and springs from a prolific stakes producing family. Broodmare sire FUSAICHI PEGASUS not only won the G1 Kentucky Derby but has since sired 1123 winners and 76 stakes winners, including G1 George Ryder S. winner HARADASUN. Crucially, Fusaichi Pegasus is also the damsire of both 2016 G1 Golden Slipper winner CAPITALIST as well as 2017 G1 Blue Diamons Stakes winner CATCHY.

This pedigree is further bolstered by second dam QUEEN ISOLT, a G3 winning South African mare by the immortal and multiple CHhampion Broodmare Sire SIR TRISTRAM. Queen Isolt is a half-sister to G3 QTC Queen’s Cup winning colt Gillespie and has already produced 5 individual winners. Among a plethora of stakes performers on the page, the elite include Australian Champion Middle Didtance Horse and G1 AJC Epsom Handicap Winner HESEO, Champion 4YO+ Canadian Horse COZZENE’S PRINCE and top of the 2000 International 3YO Sprint Categoty CALLER ONE.

This filly has a very contemporary pedigree with serious upside. By a gilt-edged speed sire line, she’s from a prolific black type producing family. The fact that two of the best juveniles in the past two years in Catchy and Capitalist are out of Fusaichi Pegasus mares also inspires confidence, not only of potential success but also of 2YO precocity. Meanwhile, having Sir Tristram as granddam sire adds solidity a depth to the pedigree.

"I saw this filly three months prior to the sale and had been following her progress. She is a very athletic horse who has a real presence about her. Raised on an excellent farm, she is the daughter of one of the states most prolific producers of winners in Reward for Effort. An early foal, she gives us the opportunity to have the chance to be up and racing as a two year old but has the scope to develop physically as a three year old. Loved her from the first day I saw her she has done nothing but please since. She is already broken in, did so with great mental maturity and we are excited to have her as part of the stable. Family is deep with winners, Vobis, Vobis Gold and Inglis Sale Race Series nominated she presents as the ideal horse to race in Victoria,"  Luke Oliver
