Jan 25, 2016

HURRY - this one won’t last long…

Sired by the illustrious DANEHILL, FASTNET ROCK established himself as a top class 2YO, securing 3 x Group placings and a 4th in the G1 STC Golden Slipper as a juvenile. It was as a 3YO, however, that his successful career was forged – finishing with 19 starts for 6 wins, 7 seconds, 2 thirds and over $1.7m. prizemoney. FASTNET ROCK was victorious at G1 level on two occasions (VRC Lightning S.; MRC Oakleigh P.), finishing his Classic year with 6 x Group victories. He was subsequently crowned Champion 3YO Colt and Champion Sprinter 2004/5.

FASTNET ROCK’s race record has been surpassed only by his record at stud: producing 15 individual G1 winners from his first five crops, FASTNET ROCK was subsequently awarded the envious `Champion Sire’ in Australia 2011/12, repeating this accolade in 2014/15. His 20 Individual Group 1 winners in Australasia include WANTED, FOXWEDGE, ATLANTIC JEWEL, ROCK `N’ POP, ROCK CLASSIC and SUPER COOL.

Stallion sons of FASTNET ROCK are also starting to hit their mark with HINCHINBROOK already producing a 2YO G1 winner, STRYKER a Group 2 winner and ROTHESAY a stakes placegetter. In fact, sons of FASTNET ROCK are currently sitting 1st, 4th and 8th on the Second Season Sires’ List (20/01/16).

This striking filly is out of WRC Oaks [G1] winner BRAMBLE ROSE, an impressive racemare who amassed a further 5 x Group placings throughout her racing career including a 3rd in the AJC Oaks [G1]. BRAMBLE ROSE has continued her successful career in the breeding barn, producing 4 winners including 2 stakes performers in MAULES CREEK (ATC Randwick City H. [L]) and SEBROSE (Singapore TC El Dorado Classic, Sgp-3; 4th Singapore Gold Cup, Sgp-1).

Second dam, IMAGES, the winner of 3 races herself, is the dam of 6 progeny to salute including Stakes performer LADY CHAPPAREL (BOP RC Tauranga S. [G3]). IMAGES is also a half sister to outstanding NZ racehorse THE FILBERT who boasts a glittering career which saw him win a GI New Zealand Stakes as well as place in a Cox Plate [G1] and a Japan Cup [G1] amongst his 16 Group placings in the Southern hemisphere.

FASTNET ROCK Yearlings in 2015 averaged almost $385,000, selling to 875 Euros overseas. He produced the session topper at the recent Gold Coast Magic Millions sale with a $1m. filly and is consistently positioned within the top 5 Australian Sires for both winners and prizemoney.
