Our Trainers
Below is a list of our trainers.
Mitch Beer
Trainer
The experience gained with the Flemington outfits served Mitch well when he moved to Mornington to become the assistant trainer to another talented young horseman Jason Warren.
Beer worked with Warren as he developed his business to become one of the premier stables on the Mornington Peninsula as a host of smart horses went through the stable, none better than the Group 1 winner Bel Sprinter, during Mitchell’s tenure.
Mitch gained his trainers’ licence in November 2015 before forming the partnership with Max Hinton soon after.
Making the move to Albury 2 years ago and in only his second season on the bordertown, Mitch took out the Albury Trainer’s award in 2020. He is well known for turning tried horses’ form around and is prolific on social media. Clanbrooke has more than a dozen horses in work at any one time with the stable.
Cindy Alderson
Trainer
Cindy may have served the longest apprenticeship ever in horse training. Since getting on a horses’ back at the age of three, Cindy has been under the watchful, coaching eye of her father, Colin. She went on to compete in many Equestrian disciplines including winning a State Level Championship.
After completing her Teaching Diploma in 1987, Cindy enjoyed a two year sojourn overseas, where she worked and gained experience at stables in the UK, USA and New Zealand.
In 1990, Cindy obtained her Training Licence, being among the very first women in Australia to be granted a permit to train. She achieved metropolitan success with the first horse she trained – ‘Old Magician’.
For a brief period, Cindy was employed by Racing Victoria to implement and run a Traineeship program for the industry. Later, she was employed by Victoria University to write resource materials for racing industry training.
In 2000, Cindy committed to training full time and draws on her own experiences and the shared knowledge and experience of Colin. Cindy is an excellent student of bloodlines and has a keen eye for a future champion.
Clanbrooke joined up with Cindy in 2016 and one of our first horses was the highly successful Group mare Sizzleme.
Mark Minervini
Trainer
The path to becoming a thoroughbred trainer was set out for Mark from a young age. Horses were very much a part of his life. His family was actively involved in breeding and showing Arabian horses.
Mark began working in racing for South Australian trainer Brian Murphy, and from the beginning Mark could see his path set out for him, he was to become a thoroughbred trainer. He enjoyed his time with Brian, learning the trade and working with some excellent horses such as, Durbridge who won six group races. Brian Murphy retired from training, and it was this change that led to Mark taking the next step in his journey to apply for his trainer’s licence in 1992.
Mark embraced his life as a trainer, enjoying working with the thoroughbred and the challenge of winning races. He took a break from the world of racing for a six month period in 2008 to spend important time with his family.
Mark considers his training style to be a more laid back approach and those that know him appreciate his genuine, easy to get along with attitude. He respects his horses and his owners and prides himself on his approachability.
Mark’s background in showing is also prevalent in his racehorses. Horses trained by Mark Minervini are always well presented.
With this careful attention to detail, his approachable and easy going manner and his passion for racing, Mark is considered one of the country’s most respected trainers.
Mark recently relocated to Newcastle (NSW) and will continue to race horses and strive for the thrill of success for many years to come. And Clanbrooke have followed him north and are pleased that we have a number of horses now in the Newcastle stable.
Pat Carey
Trainer
Pat began working with Melbourne Cup winning trainer John Meagher at the age of 12 and continued with him to the age of 28. Pat then decided to go out on his own, purchasing an excellent training complex in Epsom.
Pat and wife Cheryl have purchased a complex close to the track that can cater for a team of 25 horses. With three children, Shaun, Mark and Mandy and Cheryl running the office side of the business, the Carey team is a real family affair.
In 2007, both Clanbrooke and Pat celebrated their first G1 victory when ARAPAHO MISS won the G1 Crown Oaks. Renowned as one of the best trainer of stayers in Victoria, Pat continues to train horses for Clanbrooke who like the extra ground. Our association is an enduring one as long as Pat wants to train.
Jason Warren
Trainer
Jason gained his extensive experience working with horses at the revered Eliza Park Stud. He has also run a highly successful business out of his fully equipped 25 acre Moorooduc property, Coral Park, where he specialised in breaking in, pre-training and agisting racehorses. Jason went on to enjoy considerable success through training multiple provincial and metropolitan winners.
After a two-year period of developing his training career by working as a Foreman for Australia’s leading trainer, Lee Freedman, Jason returned to training armed with the knowledge and experience of achieving the best from thoroughbreds.
He purchased Denistoun Park, a world class private training facility, and now has 50+ horses in work.
Jason Warren combines and enviable mix of ambition and experience, with a growing list of winners and a strike rate that is second to none. In 2020 Jason with an eye to the future, teamed up with Dean Krongold as his Training Partner.
Tony McEvoy
Trainer
Tony was originally an Assistant Trainer with the Hayes regime known as Lindsay park and he now owns and manages this complex with his son and Training partner Calvin.
Tony and Calvin McEvoy are now leading trainers in the country and Clanbrooke currently have 3 horses with the stable including the exciting Mayan.
Team Hayes
Trainer
The next part of the plan involved centralising operations at a new purpose-built facility in Victoria: Lindsay Park Euroa.
Following David Hayes’s relocation to train in Hong Kong a new era for Lindsay Park began. On 10th July, 2020 the new partnership of Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes officially took up the training reins of Lindsay Park.
With David Hayes committed to his father’s famous philosophy “The Future Belongs To Those Who Plan For It”, his completed establishment of Lindsay Park Euroa and the diligent team leaves the future of the family legacy in good hands. David’s son Ben and nephew Tom will carry on as third generation Hayes family trainers. Their grandfather, Colin Hayes would be proud.
Robbie Griffiths
Trainer
His unshakeable desire to succeed at the highest level as a trainer drove me during a long and sometimes difficult journey to the top of the sport, which has propelled him into the top 10 in the Victorian Trainers’ Premiership on numerous occasions.
However, Griffiths Racing has only flourished with the wonderful support of family, friends, staff and clients that have continued to back his vision for more than two decades.
A year spent with Tony was a terrific grounding before Robbie was able to observe the best European trainers first-hand to glean further knowledge. Rob was able to use that knowledge from the moment he gained my trainer’s licence in 1991.
